Hi,
I have a question. It may be daft (most probably is if i am asking it), but can you cook potatoes in a campfire? :?

I shouldn't see why you couldn't cook jacket potatoes in a camp fire so long as you wrapped them in foil. your fire would need to have been burning for a long time so that the middle embers are at their hottest, like a BBQ charcoals. It might take a while though and you might have to keep a watchful eye on the fire to make sure it keeps burning enough to cook your potatoes. the smaller the potatoes, the quicker they will cook too.

or were you thinking of cooking them a different way?

Pot's will cook fine in a camp fire.

Wrap them well in foil and plunge them deep into a hot fire.
You will usually here the skin pop then they are nearly done. :D

When cooking on a fire, if your suspending the cooking pot, or even direct cooking on the fire, there is far more heat and a constant heat from the embers, when cooing with the flame part of the fire, things will look cooked on the outside but more than likely be raw on the inside, you can virtually cook anything over a fire, its just knowing the tricks ect.
