Although it is designed to carry 4 bikes, i would not feel secure in the sturdiness of this product.
We have carried 2 adult bikes (one ladies but had to purchase a seperate frame adpator to carry this) and one child's bike.
This has allowed us to tow a small wooden trailer across europe, but there is not clearance to have 4 adult bikes and tow with a small trailer.

we have this one and its great for using when we haven't got the trailer on. it fits nicely into the trailer we have and the bikes go on the top of the trailer for the travelling to campsites. this carrier gets used so we don't need to tow the trailer everywhere if we go to specific off road cycling sites.
you will require longer bolts to fit the adaptor as the standard towball mounting bolts are a few threads short of safe engagement.
the positive engagement of the securing pins can be a bit tricky at first but the big bonus is being able to open the tailgate with bikes on the carrier as the carrier drops down fairly easily.
Quechua 6.2XL , and now an OUTWELL Vermont XLP . not as bitey in real life as i seem online.
