I have had the HTC Touch HD2 phone now for a few weeks and it is a fantastic phone.

Firstly the screen is massive and the touch screen system works like a dream.

Yes it is a windows mobile phone but the HTC Sense menu system is so good you never need to dig deep enough to find the windows mobile sitting underneath.

The main bonus is it's compatability with my pc is superb and it will do anything i want, the gps is spot on, and there are apps out there for it, but most things you would need are already there.
All in all i can't fault it.
The new windows 7 versions and new android versions will be out at the end of the year and if they are half as good as this then they will be amazing phones, but this suites me fine :D

Is that HTC what they call an Androoid phone ............. no idea what that is though

I'm due an upgrade right now (on 3 network) and not being very technically minded have no idea what to look for and OH keeps bugging me to sort something. He has a Nokia N something or other and some sort of HTC (don't ask ............ it's to do with when he was a relief chef and neede 2 because of signal in the Lakes areas).

I loath the touch screen phones so anyone of them is totally and completely out.
I have a Sony Ericsson Cyber Shot just now and it's been fixed once already (speaker in the ear piece went and now it's all tinny and horrible). The camera on it is brilliant at 8.1mega pixel.

What I want it to do is make phone calls, txt, take good quality pictures and store and play music well. Not bothered about i things or apps.

It has to be really easy and simple to use

what the heck is mi-fi??

Any ideas or suggestions?

Android is a mobile phone operating system written by Google which they distribute freely. It's very similar to the iPhone OS that the iPhone uses, they both use touchscreen input.

The cyber-shots have excellent cameras and if you don't want to go online on your phone then sticking with a Sony-Erricson might be your best plan as you understand it.

Mi-fi is a little gadget (about the size of a fag packet) that connects to the internet using the mobile phone 3G system and then acts as a wi-fi router to allow other gadgets that are wi-fi only (like the iPod touch and the Nintendo DS) to connect to the internet vie it's 3G connection. So it gives you a wi-fi connection anywhere you can get a 3G connection. Quite a neat idea but they are iirc quite pricey (£50) and obviously you'll be paying for the 3G connection.

After Android I was lost  (sorry)

There is a new Sony Ericsson one that I found and think as you say I am best to stick to what I know - it took me ages to figure this one out and I still don't use it fully.

Why don't they just make a really nice phone that makes phone calls, txt and pictures and that's really idiot proof.
